the lists are almost starting to run together & look the same - unless there’s some big crazy upheaval over the next few months, no one is going to be surprised by the final winners (losers?). disappointed, maybe. surprised, not at all. thanks for the list!
- 500 Miles
- Snow Cherries from France
- Leather
- You Can Bring Your Dog
- London Girls
!!!!!!!!!LONDON GIRLS????????????
not very many boys for pele songs nominated, and here’s the first pele bee-side to be mentioned >O.O<
thanks for the list, honey!
1. China
2. Fat Slut
3. My Posse Can Do
4. Posse Bonus
5. Song for Erici wouldn’t say that I hate them, maybe Song for Eric, but I usually just skip right past them
skipping right past them, all the way to neeeeeeeeeeewwww yooooooooooooooorrrrrrrrk (it’s so EASY to exaggerate china) - thanks for the list!
in no particular order:
Mary Jane
Harps of Gold
Flavor
Ireland
Peeping TommiI think Peeping Tommi is the only one I actively dislike. The others are just “meh” to me. I might listen to them or skip them if they come on, but I’m never in the mood to cue them up.
thanks for your list - i almost want to ask what the big deal is about harps of gold, but i can’t even recall what it sounds like. >.<
1. She’s Your Cocaine
2. Icicle
3. Winter
4. Carry
5. Professional Widow (Boys for Pele Album Version)This is blasphemy but here they are. *Goes to a corner ashamed.*
wanna know a little secret? i wasn’t a fan of she’s your cocaine the first thousand times i listened to the album, either. and while i can recognize the importance, lyrical beauty, and fantastic composition of winter i don’t really “get” it *sits with you in the corner also to give you company* — thanks for participating!
I didn’t want to do this but since everyone’s doing good songs I feel forced to
- the wrong band
- snowblind
- not dying today
- harps of gold
- you’ll be taken care of
I HAD COMPLETELY FORGOTTEN ABOUT YOU’LL BE TAKEN CARE OF!
here’s a link to the song, if anyone else is in the same boat or perhaps hasn’t heard it. it’s from a compilation cd (Here Lies Love) from david byrne & fatboy slim, paying tribute to emelda marcos. tori also pairs up with cyndi lauper for another song on the album, why don’t you love me? - this song would also count as a possible nomination!
Pop Culture Feminism: New Tori Amos Book Coming Your Way! -
This month my first book, “Sing Us a Song, Piano Woman: Female Fans and the Music of Tori Amos”, will be released. The book looks at the ways women have used Tori’s music as a means to heal from trauma as well as the ways female fans are represented in pop culture. (Generally as the…
Jumping on the bandwagon.
- Harps of Gold
- 1000 Oceans
- Toast
- Cactus Practice
- Programmable Soda
thanks for hanging out with us - your vote has been counted! and, you’ve given the second nomination for 1000 oceans. as much as we’ve heard people say that song is overrated, it’s only been nominated twice … seems like overratedness does not always equal disliked.
Considering i love every album this woman has put out to date this was challenging but since I did the other list of best songs awhile ago, I thought i’d contribute my top 5 list not in any order
- Mr. Bad Man
- Ireland
- Not the Red Baron
- Cactus Practice
- Daisy Dead Petals
we remember your other lists (thank you for those!) - glad to have you back for this. you’re our 75th ballot submitted, and we’re super SUPER excited about that. interesting to something from boys for pele nominated … that album may have the least amount of songs to appear so far. once 100 lists have been submitted, we’ll do a post about songs by album!

got all your crosses loaded: least favorite tori songs:“maybe california” - so incredibly sappy... -
least favorite tori songs:
- “maybe california” - so incredibly sappy and boring to me. in my eyes it just transcends every other purportedly saccharine piece she’s written
- “happiness is a warm gun” - i am not a fan of the beatles, i cannot abide lennon, and the sheer length of this cover makes…
COUNTED! love the explanations. personally, i (amanda) can’t stand the rolling stones & think angie is an awful song, regardless of who sings it. it’s on my list for sure.
